New Wellness Policy
There has been a change in Wellness Policy and Regulation. This will look like a couple of different things for your child's classroom. On special occasions (birthday celebrations, etc) parents are asked not to bring cupcakes or other sweets without speaking with the teacher. As you can imagine there are many birthdays celebrated throughout the year, in addition to holidays and events where snacks high in sugar are served to your students. One day per month (day is determined by your child's classroom teacher) that will be the day to celebrate that month's student birthdays. We encourage our Seeliger parents to bring snacks that are a healthier option than cupcakes, candy etc. A healthier option would be fruit, cheese sticks, pretzels. Etc. Please contact your child's teacher to find out when it is appropriate to bring such snacks for a birthday celebration.
Additionally, all food sold or given away during the school day (this includes items for fundraising) must meet the Smart Snacks Nutrition Guidelines. A big thanks to our Pirate families for your continued support!
