The Carson City School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Nathan Brigham as the vice principal for Empire Elementary School for the 2020-2021 school year.

"Mr. Brigham is a qualified and engaging educator,” said Mr. Richard Stokes, CCSD superintendent. “With more than 18 years of experience as an educator, he will provide valuable and dynamic support to Principal Susan Squires. I look forward to working alongside him as he becomes familiar with his new assignment.”

In his position, Mr. Brigham will be part of an educational system focused on developing the skill and talents for all students through rigorous learning experiences, supportive relationships and relevant real-life applications. He will be a visible instructional leader throughout the district and propel student achievement in the areas of curriculum, instruction, assessment, accountability and staff supervision.

Prior to his appointment as vice principal, Mr. Brigham served as a fourth grade teacher at Empire Elementary School (2019-present). He was the Lead Learning Strategist for the Carson City School District (2017-2019) where he created district-wide measurable units of instruction for English Language Arts (ELA) as well as leading a district-wide ELA curriculum adoption. Prior to that, he served as the Success For All (SFA) Facilitator for the district for more than six years (2011-2017) and spent more than five years teaching fifth grade at Empire Elementary (2006-2011).

Earlier in his teaching career, he taught sixth grade at Prairie Elementary School (2004-2006) and third grade at Maeola Beitzel Elementary School (2003-2004) in Sacramento, Calif. and fifth grade at Wendover Elementary School (2002-2003) in Wendover, Nev. Mr. Brigham earned a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from Linfield College in McMinnville, Ore. (2001) and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Western Governors University in Salt Lake City (2018).
