A “transplant” from western Pennsylvania, I attended Allegheny College, where in 1986 I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. From there I attended California University of Pennsylvania to pursue my teaching credential. After substituting in my local school districts, I was encouraged to move to Nevada, as they were hiring teachers in response to the class size reduction law that had just passed. My career in Nevada began as a substitute, then I was hired by Carson City in 1993. I’ve always taught at Seeliger; in 2ndgrade for 7 years, 1st-2nd Multi-age for 7 years, and have just completed 7 years of looping from 1st to 2nd.
My overall goal as a teacher is to provide high quality education and to have a positive impact in students' lives. In my years with the district, I've worked to promote both those ideals. I've been President of Seeliger's PTA, President of the Silver Sage PTA (for Carson and Lyon counties), an officer in my teachers' association, and involved in many district and school programs. Outside of school I coached groups for the Carson Tigersharks and taught private swimming lessons.
Even with 21 years of teaching experience, I continue to learn and grow professionally and most importantly, I enjoy what I do!
