Making good on their promise, the Reno area book seller delivered more than 850 books to Carson City's Mark Twain Elementary School Monday with an added bonus: Citi Bank matched the value of the books and added and additional 25 percent, amounting to a check of more than $4,000 for the school to purchase books, nooks and tablets from Barnes and Noble. In all, the donations Monday amount to more than $7,000 worth of books and material donated to the school.

"We are so grateful for such timely gifts as our school recently completed reading week,” said Ruthlee Caloiaro, principal of Mark Twain Elementary. “The students are hungry for new books, and the folks from Barnes & Noble and their customers helped make this possible. I am pleased to say that every student within our school will receive their own new book today. We have such a gracious and caring community here in northern Nevada."

Nationwide, the booksellers and generous customers are the driving force behind millions of donations that make their way into grateful hands. During the 2017 Holiday Book Drive, Barnes & Noble donated over 1.6 million books to more than 650 local charities across the country that provide services to disadvantaged children.
