Spectator Protocols, Procedures and Policies for CCSD Athletic Events

Carson City School District has released its plan to allow limited spectators to high school athletic contests, starting with 100 fans at games, with that number increasing to 250 after March 14. Only home-team spectators will be allowed during the Fall and Spring 2020-21 athletic seasons. Public gatherings and events will be capped at 250 people or 50 percent of fire code capacity once phase 2 begins March 15, which will be the third week of the Fall sports season.

Each year, National Read Across America Day is observed on March 2, the birthday of children’s book author Ted Geisel, a/k/a Dr. Seuss. In celebration, many schools often dedicate an entire week as “Reading Week.” In Carson City, students and teachers at several schools hosted special events and activities designed to encourage reading.

Pre-K, Kindergarten & Annual Update Registrations begins Tuesday, April 6

The Carson City School District (CCSD) is asking parents to mark their calendars for Tuesday, April 6, when all Pre-K, Kindergarten, new and returning student updates and registrations will begin. Pre-K and kindergarten registration traditionally has been the first week of March. The district is streamlining and simplifying the registration and annual student update process by consolidating a previously multiple-date schedule.

Students Celebrate 10 Years of Digital Learning Days this Week

In celebration of National Digital Learning Day this coming Thursday, Feb. 25, students throughout the Carson City School District are showcasing their 21st century skills and advocating for the state’s continued support of technology in schools across the state. In particularly, students with the Carson High School orienteering class spent some time to learn the Catching Features software that enables them to navigate virtually as well as physically over land.
