Students and staff members in the Carson City school district will rock and roll in earthquake drills throughout the day Thursday, Oct. 21. The events are part of the Great Nevada ShakeOut, an annual statewide earthquake drill designed to teach students and educators about how to protect themselves during an earthquake.

Photographers and representatives from the news media are invited Wednesday, Oct. 13, to capture images and video of teachers, students, school board trustees and local dignitaries signing a massive steel beam for a ‘Topping Out’ ceremony beginning as early as 11 a.m. at Eagle Valley Middle School, 4151 East Fifth Street, Carson City, Nevada 89701. The beam is scheduled to be set in place by 12 noon.

Three Carson City Students Win State Fire Prevention Poster Contest

The Carson City School District is pleased to announce the artwork and design of three fifth grade students from Fremont and Seeliger Elementary Schools have won the “2021 State of Nevada Fire Prevention Week Poster Contest.” The Nevada Department of Public Safety, State Fire Marshal Division selected the winners this year based on the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) theme of "Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety."
