Western Nevada College (WNC) celebrated with Carson High School (CHS) seniors yesterday for completing applications for the Nevada Promise Scholarship, which allows graduating seniors to attend community colleges in Nevada with full tuition paid. The event provided pizza to 482 out of the total 507 CHS seniors who completed the Nevada Promise application before the October 31 deadline.

School counselors, teachers and administrators worked with WNC to ensure every senior had access to the application prior to the deadline. In addition to completing the scholarship application, graduating seniors will also need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as well as 8 hours of community service to fully qualify for the Nevada Promise Scholarship.

WNC and the University of Nevada, Reno will host a financial Aid Night and Hands-on FAFSA Workshop in the Carson High School library Tuesday, Nov. 9, at 6 p.m. Any guardian of a graduating CHS senior is invited to attend, as all students must complete a FAFSA to attend nearly all colleges or universities nationwide.
