After making various revisions based on community input received, the Carson City School Board approved the Carson City School District’s Safe Reopening Plan for the 2021-2022 school year, at the school board meeting Tuesday, July 13, 2021. The motion passed with a unanimous vote of 7-0.

“The federal and state response to the COVID-19 pandemic has incentivized individuals to stay home, out of the workforce, and draw from unemployment,” said Associate Superintendent Jose Delfin, who oversees the Human Resources Department for the Carson City School District. “Of course, last year, when people could not physically leave their homes, that made sense. But now as we are reopening more fully, many positions continue to remain vacant.”

As part of the Carson City School District’s Safe Reopening Plan for the 2021-2022 school year, the district will host a workshop to discuss and obtain public input Tuesday, June 22, 6 p.m., prior to the scheduled 7 p.m. school board meeting, in the Robert Crowell Board Room at the Carson City Community Center.

Foundation Still Needs Support for Dual-enrollment Jump Start Program

The Carson City Schools Foundation (CCSF), in support of the Carson City School District, still seeks community donors to match its efforts to ‘Sponsor a Student’ for the Western Nevada College (WNC) Jump Start College program. From now through June 30, 2021, the foundation continues to support and will match community sponsorships up to $6,250 total to help make up the cost of textbooks and materials for the up-coming school year.

06-15-17 Pedaling Books During Summer School
The Carson City Library’s Pedal Library will be busy delivering books to students attending summer school. Now through the end of June, the teardrop trailer pulled behind a bike will provide up to 60 pounds of books at each elementary school within the Carson City School District. The mobile library will be offering mobile wifi and charging station soon.
